I needed a cheap clamp to hold a camera onto an oddly shaped window sill, and this would have been perfect out of the box if the far end of the clamp was the same length as the adjustable plate; as is, that extra protrusion made it impossible to use this clamp without the addition of a wooden shim. A little bit of that though and my camera is firmly attached.I have a situation where I wanted a battery powered security camera aimed at a certain area of the house but didn't want to fool with installing it's mount on brick, as the camera and/or placement may change over time. I have a taller than normal wood fence, and decided to try one of these so I could clamp it on top of the fence and use the tripod mount on it to fix a camera on for that side. Works perfectly for that purpose. Simply built - you just slide it over, and turn a wheel until it's as tight as you want it to be on wood or whatever you're attaching it to. The top part can twist and turn a few ways to allow for other angles - not perfect, a LITTLE fiddly, but not bad. Great again, for temporary placements of cameras.I'm a professional photographer and I'm always looking for convenient clamps to secure my equipment in space-saving ways. With these Camvate clamps, I can put lights right where I need them and also work well with trail cameras etc.The primary segment is cut from a solid piece of aluminum. There are 12 spots to secure a 1/4-20 threat which is also standard for most tripods. There is also a centered 3/8 - 16 thread opening so even audio gear is compatible. It opened to a maximum of 1 and 5/8" inches, so can put it on a 2x4 frame or clamp to a table top etc.It has pads made of soft plastic so you won't mark a table or scratch glass surfaces. The threaded portions for adjustment are steel with a solid plastic articulated arm and plastic twists for securing in place. For the money, I definitely recommend these clamps. I'm impressed and compare them with "small-rig" gear. Don't even think about putting a DSLR body on this, with any vibration it will likely shift. But for led light panels, strobes, audio microphones etc... good to go!Nice powder-coated, machined aluminum, main clamping body, with pipe-notch and 12 threaded mounting point options for the ball-stud for powder-coated clamping pivot arm. Smooth clamp positioning and firm lock nut action. Decent workmanship. For the price, this clamp should have stainless threaded hardware however. Clamping range is up to ~2.5" if you remove the c-clip retained circular pot metal clamping head on the threaded rod. Ball stud does not have wrench flats or hex faces so need a non-marring plier set is recommended to relocate threaded ball stud to desired position, without damaging its plating.Used to mount small camera in hunting blind for action video. So far so good.Attached to scoping gizmo and works greatWorks sometime. Slightest wind will loosen it. You have to tighten them a lot.Better than nothing but I will keep looking for something better.I use to Hold a scope on a surfaceI like the versatility of the clamp mount. I couldn’t find a clamp mount for phone holders, so I modified one to work with the camera clamp mount. It has rubber protection on the clamp mechanism so it won’t damage, or leave marks on anything it’s clamped to. Very good product.I bought this clamp to give me more flexibility with mounting options. Specifically small lights or my GH5.The massive upside to having a clamp like this is working in tight or unsual places where a tripod wont fit, you could mount to a door frame or chair. Its basically a C lamp with a mount of two ball joints held together with a plastic arm piece. Both ball joints are tightened with the screw int he middle of the arm and offer great fexibility with positioning. There are different mount positions as shown in the pictures with the item. Its only only ok becuase I used it with the GH5 and a 25mm 1.7 which is a tiny lens, mounted to my car for a time lapse and the camera moved whenever I hit un even road (as in the ball joints within the plastic arm). I'd then retighten and try again, and again the camera would move. If I'd tightened it any further (it was max) i dont have confidence it wouldnt have broken.Granted that this type of use is putting it under stress but it is a big clamp vs a mirrorless camera and tiny lens it should have been rock solid. It will however be perfectly fine for chairs/doors etc. so i will be keep the item. - Its ok!Good solid C-Clamp Mount.Unlike it seems some of the other reviewers here, the double ball mount on my unit is made of metal and feels solid and secure and so far has not come loose.Clamp is made of solid alloy, with rubber protectors on clamp arm and screw - so should not damage whatever it is clamped to. The clamp has a number of drilled holes offering a range of positions for the ball joint (or other 1/4" mounts) to be mounted. As said the double ball joint on my unit is metallic and feels very secure and supports my Panasonic GX8 with a 45-200mm zoom at full extension with no problem. So far very impressed.Use this on the baby cot to position a baby camera. Good range of adjustment but looses a start for cost and that it's quite easy to loosed the screw where it tightens in the alloy if you catch what is attached, which can be annoying while trying not to wake baby. Perhaps I'll use some lock tight, however given the cost, this should have been designed out. Seems like exploitation of the go-pro market. Can't hold a proper DSLR with a zoom lens tight. If you try to tighten it up the screws will start wearing out. Good for small cameras.OK
